So back here<\/a> I outlined my plan to curtail my spending on games and deal with my ever growing backlog. The list of games wasnt a goal, it was a leash. It’s been three months since then so how has it worked out so far?

Well first of all there’s been some changes to the 108. Three games were removed, Devil Survivour 2, EVE Online and My Girlfriends the President!. Why? Well DS2 had an ehanced 3DS port announced so I’m going to wait for it to come out. My subscription in EVE Online ran out the same time as my interest. And while My Girlfriends the President! is the romantic comedy I thought it was it also features some rather disturbing pornography. So to take their place I’ve added Atelier Totori Plus, Eador:Masters of the Broken World and Guild Wars 2 (so I can replace one MMO I dont play with another).<\/p>\n

I also completed a number of games (Dark Souls, Dawn of War II, Dawn of War II:Chaos Rising, MGS:Rising, Space Marine), though not as many as I’d hoped. So in terms of taking out my backlog it hasnt been a stunning success, though on the other hand I’ve only finished one game not on the list (Bioshock: Infinite). So it”s certainly not doing any harm. I imagine when my impending unemployment kicks in I should have more than enough time to knock out a few more games in between the sobbing.<\/p>\n

It certainly has cut down on my spending, apart from the stuff I’d pre-ordered I’ve spent significantly less money on games than I normally would (Atelier Totori+, Guild Wars 2 and Eador cost me around \u20ac60-70 in total due to sales and such, so the cost of one full price game). On the other hand I have spent a bit more than I might have on Kickstarting various computer games, but again the four or five that I kickstarted has only come to around \u20ac60-70. So overall it seems to be working on the cutting down spending front.<\/p>\n
