Back over here<\/a> I covered how my 108 initiative fared over the last quarter of 2013 and took a brief look at the year in total. Now that a new years here its time for a new list. There’s a lot of great new games coming out this year but I want to be a lot stricter with purchases than last year (and I’m sure unemployment will do its best to help me with that). I’m also going to make use of the lessons learned in 2013 (in short unless you are literally going to play it right away buying games Day 1 is for suckers – more or less everything goes on sale)<\/p>\n

Of course this strictness will need to be post-this post as the January sales (and finally reclaiming about ten humble sales) has already added considerably to my backlog. Though not really hit my wallet too hard. I picked up the following on sale, Space Hulk, Valdis Story and Bionic Dues, for a grand total of about fifteen quid. I’m also torn on whether I should include a number of games that I kickstarted that are supposed to “drop” this year. Given the shockingly poor record of KS projects delivering on anything approaching their promised time its probably best to leave them off. I will however include one or two games that I’ve pre-ordered or that I know I’m going to end up buying. I’m allowing myself thirteen game purchases for the year. If I stick to that I’ll be happy enough (I’ll be ecstatic if I both stick to it and complete all of said games).<\/p>\n

Anarchy Reigns<\/strong> – The lack of local multiplayer killed this for me. The single player is ok but after playing it for a few hours I have no urge to go back
\nCompany of Heroes: Tales of Valor<\/strong> – It seems presumptuous to include the sequel when I havent touched the original
\nCompany of Heroes: Opposing Fronts<\/strong> – See above
\nGuild Wars 2<\/strong> – Zero interest in playing this (or an MMO at the moment)
\nHitman: Blood Money<\/strong> – See above
\nLegend of Grimrock<\/strong> – Played about ten hours of this, cant see myself going back. It does some things well but what it doesnt do well annoys me enough to put me off
\nNaruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3<\/strong> – Theres already an enhanced version of this released and the sequel will likely be out before I catch up to the series
\nOmerta: City of Gangsters<\/strong> – Terrible reviews and user impressions killed my urge to play this
\nPersona 3 Portable<\/strong> – I’m not playing this until I replay FES so its likely to be a while
\nSuper Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition<\/strong> – Fighting games are dead to me
\nTales of Vesperia<\/strong> – My 360 is broken
\nTorchlight II<\/strong> – Got half way through and have zero interest in going back
\nYakuza: Dead Souls<\/strong> – As this was still shrinkwrapped I eneded up giving it away as a present<\/p>\n
